Family conflicts leave us feeling angry, hurt, sad, rejected and often helpless. This gives rise to the common response of avoiding conflicts. We often find ourselves giving or being given the advice to stay calm, adjust and not fight, not argue, not create a source of tension. This comes from the seemingly obvious assumption that conflicts are bad and the fewer conflicts we have with people, especially family, the better it is for our relationship.
On 6th June 2017, Samvedna Senior Care Foundation conducted a workshop on Intergenerational Bonding at the summer camp organized by Desire Society, Gurgaon, www.desiresociety.org. Desire Society is an NGO supporting HIV infected or affected children all over India.

Depression is a mood disorder that affects our emotional and mental functioning. While sadness is a major symptom of depression, many elderly with depression claim to not feel sad. Moreover, many assume that feeling low is a part of ageing and many are reluctant to talk about it. These are some reasons for why depression in the elderly is so often overlooked.
How does one embrace an aging body ? How indeed. Memories of youth come in the way. Memories of when running was easy and fun. Kicking a ball and running after it was fun. Future held promise and dreams were dreamt. There was a thick shock of hair to be styled, muscles to be exercised, skills to be mastered. Memories were to be made and not to be lived in.

This was not always the case, earlier people were more dependent on each other to complete tasks. Aging is a time of transition. It happens naturally, but aging well takes careful planning. For many thousands of years, mankind has wondered when old age began. Beginning at the turn of the 20th century, life spans in India started steadily rising, from 32 years to 66.2 years. This is majorly due to availability of a vast array of drugs in the market.
