Memory Screening Camps

Initial symptoms of dementia can appear as early as ten years before the actual onset. Understanding the risk factors for dementia and getting a timely cognitive assessment can help take preventive measures at an early stage.

We conduct free memory screening camps in association with RWAs, SCAs, hospitals, PHCs and Samvedna's centre in Gurgaon and other low resource settings, to assess the mental health of seniors and detect early signs of cognitive impairment. These camps help raise awareness of risk factors for dementia and increase understanding of dementia symptoms vs normal ageing. They also help identify cases of depression and anxiety requiring geriatric mental health services.

Trained clinicians use HMSE, ICE-E scales to make this assessment. The sessions are held in a non-judgmental and positive environment and in a language convenient for the senior - Hindi or English. Memory assessments and neuropsychological evaluations are conducted by experienced mental health specialists and clinical psychologists.

These camps have men and women in almost equal participation, with an average age of 68. They come from urban middle class and lower income groups and from varied professional backgrounds like government and private service employees, business owners and homemakers.

If you would like to us to conduct a memory screening camp in your SCA (Senior Citizen Association) or RWA (Residents Welfare Association) you can write to us at contact@samvednacare.org.

Samvedna Volunteers came here today for memory screening of senior citizens. Earlier seniors were anxious to know whether their memory is fine or not. Samvedna team was really good and with very much patience they tested everyone. They were too good and this was very helpful.

This was a very good program. Actually from last 6 months I am finding some issue with my memory. I attended this camp and found it very satisfactory…. I was finding from my inner core that with the age I have finding some problem over there but Samvedna group has made us positive. They have recommended me to review after 6 months as I am 72 years old. It is very nice.
